Singapore: Gardens By The Bay – Supertree Grove – OCBC Skyway

I was having a great time inside the Cloud Forest. Around 5.30 PM, my tummy started to sing. Hahaha.. So, I decided to try the most famous dish in Gardens By The Bay, Satay By The Bay. Yummy!

The canteen was rather far from the conservatories. I walked under the Supertree Grove to follow the sign. Lucky for me that the weather was nice for a walk. The rain had stopped, people were very few, birds were chirping along my way. For 15 minutes passing lakes and giant bird statues, I found the cafeteria.

There were various choices of food and beverages. Nasi lemak, briyani, seafoods, hainam, ice creams, juices even beers. I directly approached one of the satay stalls, in the back side of the canteen and ordered a plate of 6 mixed satay (pork, chicken, mutton, beef) for only $4.2 ($0.7 each). I sat in one of the park benches facing the lake. The ambiance was comforting.

At 6.30 PM, I was ready for the Supertree Grove. Measuring between 25 and 50 metres tall, these iconic tree-like vertical gardens are designed with large canopies that provide shade in the day and come alive with an exhilarating display of light and sound at night. It was beyond awesome.

The Supertrees came alive with a light and music show at 7.45 PM and 8.45 PM called the OCBC Garden Rhapsody. I knew that the best place to enjoy was up there, as close as possible to the trees. Hence, I bought an OCBC Skyway ticket for $8 (tickets were sold on the spot only due to weather condition).

Grande!

The OCBC Skyway was an elevated walkway, between two of the larger Supertrees for visitors to enjoy a panoramic aerial view of the Gardens. The bridge was strictly only for 80 people at a time, so we could only be up there for 15 minutes. I queued too early, so I asked other tourists behind me to go before me if the wanted to. Brilliant idea, indeed. Ahahahaa… *sorry. Around 7.40 PM, I managed to be in the lift to the OCBC Skyway. By the time I stepped out of the lift, the Garden Rhapsody begun! Perfect time. I was super thrilled!!

Watching the light show from OCBC Skyway at night was a highlight of my visit to Singapore.

P.S. I had a hard time choosing which photos to be uploaded here. All of the them are mesmerizing. I was surprised that the “Grande!” one was well captured, truly wallpaper-material. Thanks to my Samsung Galaxy A7.

Have a nice day.
