Early in the morning, I woke up and got ready to explore Singapore. I was super excited and anxious at the same time. I worried that I wouldn’t be able to find my destinations or worst, lost. Hahaha.. My plan was simple, took as many mural pictures as possible in Haji Lane, Kampong Glam.

I was informed by Desmond, the helpful receptionist, that it’s better to go as early as possible before the Sun caught you. It’s gonna be way too humid and hot after 10 AM. And so I did. I left at around 8 AM right after breakfast.

8 AM Mosque St, Chinatown

After managed to took empty Mosque Street, I jump in the train from Chinatown Station to Bugis Station. Then walked along the way to Haji Lane with Google Map as my guide. I enjoy every steps because the path was clean, the view was nothing to be found back home. I met pigeons gathering in the pavement. Held myself to try to scare them off ahahahaa..

Less than 10 minutes, I saw a street sign of Haji Lane. Yay! I found it. The narrow street was still empty. I just met a couple of tourists. The stores were closed that early morning but I can imagine how edgy those indie boutiques and cafes when they’re open. This place was lit!

I love how they creatively design the wall with mural and graffiti. In a professional way. Gosh, I had never seen so many colors in one place like that before. Singaporean sure loves rainbows. The wall, the doors and windows, chairs.

This street is undoubtedly a must-visit in Singapore. Though, you might want to come in the afternoon where all the hipster cafes and shops are open. If you want to admire the graffiti just as I did, early morning is the best time.

There are several recommended cafes you can go. Visit Jovena’s article for complete review: 17 Cafes That Made Haji Lane Cool Again.

I will definitely come back, Haji Lane!
